Hi there,
i have an t42p with an firegl2 (ati-drivers). I have tested some kernels from 2.6.10-r3 up to 2.6.11-r3. With every kernel i have other problems.
The goal is to get acpi with softwaresuspend2 and fglrx to work. Does anybody knows a good setup for this? Under 2.6.11* my sound and the fglrx driver wont work.
Under 2.6.10 i have serveral problems with acpi, for example the display is scrambeld and so on. Currently i have 2.6.11-r3, suspend to ram works, hibernate doesnt, and fglrx wont work .
If anybody out there have the same or an near thinkpad to mine, and got all the stuff working i will be happy to here what versions ur using.
(ATI Technologies Inc M10 NT [FireGL Mobility T2, Xorg Release 6.8.1.903, ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3, kernel 2.6.11-r3 vanilla)
regards,

Hi
I own a T42p and I'm trying to make suspend-to-RAM working. I haven't tested suspend-to-DISK right now (and I don't think I will)
I followed this two guides but I have no success.
http://umech.mit.edu/aja/linux/t42p/#suspend-ram
http://x1.cs.umd.edu/t42p.html
after
Code: | echo '3' > /proc/acpi/sleep |
The synptoms are:
return to a console mode.
Display a line on the top of the screen (to fast to read it)
black screen and the little moon light turns on. (ok until here ... I think)
...
I press the power button.
The screen turn on (bg=black) in a very low resolution writing a 'in' in yellow on the screen ( like a graphic bug)
the cdrom try something ...
and reboot.
I saw that you managed to make suspend-to-RAM working, maybe you know where to look for for havind debug ?(not in /var/log/messages)
Thanks

Hi,
I have a T42p with FireGL2 and fglrx, too.
After some struggles with swsusp2 I use the kernel (2.6.10 - latest gentoo-sources) swsusp, hibernate-script from portage, vbetool from portage.
Suspend to ram and disk works fine for me with this setup. I unload the alsa-modules and usb-modules through the hibernate-script and use the Fn+F4 and Fn+F12 keys to get it to sleep.
The only things that annoy me a bit right now are:
- gkrellm2 dies after suspending (I use the volume-plugin)
- firefox sometimes dies after resuming/suspending
If you need some configs, let me know.

Did you set any options for vbetool? Because when I switch back to X my sys freezes. Do you followed any specific howto?
Thanks in advance _________________ Workstation: 5.1 SurroundSound, LIRC remote control; Laptop [IBM-T43]: patched sources, s2disk/ram, fingerprint sensor |
