Just as a note Apple came out with a new software update ~1 week ago and I noticed that at least the mac updated iPod Mini when inserted was automatically detected by my PC whereas my older firmware flashed iPod didn't get detected instantly.
So maybe to those who have older firmware versions, find someone with a Mac/Windows PC and update your 'Pod and see what happens.
Sidenote:
Code: |
bash-2.05b$ uname -a
Linux sprsd 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 #2 SMP Thu Feb 17 18:42:07 PST 2005 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

and I run pure udev.
I would test but I took my only firewire card and put it in my Windows box for a little while, so I will update this thread with my results once I put my firewire card into my Gentoo box again. |

Good news. So far it appears my assumption is correct. The iPod's node is created when restarting the pc as well as when I restart the iPod by doing a reset, removing it, and replugging it in. |

Ok, it is still somewhat problematic on the mounting, but the probability of it working has increased greatly since I flashed the new software onto the iPod. Even though it did not connect properly for a little stint (about 3 hours), I'm sure that if I rmmod'ed the sbp2 and firewire modules it would have worked properly. |
