|
|
I have set up my system according to this guide:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=72893
Everything works fine, and I can log in through xdm to the default window manager twm under as any user. I changed the default wm to xfce4 in /etc/rc.conf, and I can log in to xfce4 just fine locally.
The problem occurs when I try to log in through VNC. This is what happens:
http://aaltonen.us/downloads/xfce_vnc_problem.png
As you can see, everything is black: there is no background, icons, etc. Everything seems to function correctly otherwise.
Update: If I run a separate vncserver, instead of running it through xinetd, everything works fine. |

this is kinda old but i had the same problem and found this thread while searching
Although it didn't present a solution, it pointed me into the right direction and I found the problem:
instead of passing -depth 32 to your Xvnc in /etc/xinetd.d/xvncserver, use -depth 24.
Just in case anyone else stumbles over this prob and finds this |
