When I use the nvidia drivers instead of the "nv" drivers that come with X, my mouse cursor "stutters" and X generaly loads slowly.
I've tried several versions of the nvidia-kernel drivers with no luck....
X doesn't report any errors, and the module is loaded properly.
Could this be a udev problem ?
I'm running 2.6.10-r7 gentoo sources and I'm having the same problems on 2.6.9.-r14 gentoo dev sources
Anyone got any ideas ?? Or do I have to wait until nvidia releases new drivers |

Can you show us your xorg.conf and your log? _________________ My emerge --info
Have you run revdep-rebuild lately? It's in gentoolkit and it's worth a shot if things don't work well.

Just me but I suspect mixed-matched libraries. Run glxinfo - you want to see direct rendering. If it says Mesa in there that would be the problem. Somehow you would then have to safely remove Mesa. |
