Could you run firefox in a terminal and send us the error when it segfaults. Also your:
would be helpful. |

sorry bout being so vague.
for example, i would hit the submit button, when writing on these forums, and the window would just dissapear. firefox/mozilla just stops like that, and once in a while i may get the feed back window. but most of the time, i won't.
this is my emerge info.
ill send the firefox error to you as soon as it crashes |

I'm getting the same thing. Disappears 5 or 6 times in an hour. Not reproducable and it happens whenever. Definately having big problems with my machine's stability lately but Firefox is the worst offender by far. _________________ I am a sick man. ... I am a wicked man. An unattractive man. I don't see anything abnormal within your make.conf. Perhaps if you start firefox within a terminal and can ever catch the error we might be able to diagnose the problem. |

One of my friends is running SuSE and I was on his computer and the same thing happened. I haven't had a problem, but it seems to be non-Gentoo specific, I hope that helps, maybe check a mozilla forum.

i think it has something to do with mozilla not playing nice with the mplayer plug in on my system anyones thoughts would be a great help
and if some one could tell me how to get info after running mozilla in a term (it jumps to a new prompt just like i had ran mozilla &) i could paste any seg fault msges. _________________ you never stop being a n00b till you code kernels. so dont talk down to people cause they probably know stuff you dont, or vice versa. If I ran it from a terminal it would just say 'segmentation fault'. I updated all my extensions shortly after writing the post above and Firefox has not crashed yet. Then again I've been rather disgusted with my computer so I left it for a while. See if it crashes today. _________________ I am a sick man. ... I am a wicked man. An unattractive man. Since upgrading my extensions Firefox has only crashed once. Sucky but certainly an improvement. _________________ I am a sick man. ... I am a wicked man. An unattractive man. I think my liver hurts. -- Fyodor Dostoevsky |

Yeah. Extensions.
Quote: | Extensions
Extensions are small add-ons that add new functionality to your Mozilla program. They can add anything from a toolbar button to a completely new feature. |

I had a similiar problem with mozilla/firefox. The problem for me (and others here in the forum) was that the permissions for some font files were not set properly. After resetting them in a way that my restricted user account was able to read the files and rebuilding the font-cache the problem has never appeared again.

how about trying the firefox-bin version?
also don't forget to remove the ~/.mozilla/firefox dir (backup it before!) and try to work with firefox.
hth,
cheers |
