I have Coldplug, Hotplug installed and rc-update defaulted. I use a Logitech optical mouse. When I power on my computer, the optical light turns on, but between grub and the part of booting where you get [OK]s, the light shuts off and the computer boots normally, but without any way of using the mouse. cat /dev/input/mice returns nothing. I have a feeling I messed something up in my kernel .config, and I'll post it asap.

I haven't configured xorg yet so it can't be X's config. I've just been trying to get gpm to work first. I am running an athlon64 natively 64 bit and accepted the defaults in the menuconfig for usb.

Solved by adding UHCI HCD to the kernel as a module and autoloading it on boot.

On a slightly unrelated note, would it be possible for gpm to be loaded on boot with the arguments "-m /dev/input/mice -t imps2"?
