I downloaded flash from the macromedia site, when i run it I get:

or Opera browser (i.e., /usr/lib/mozilla):


I have phoenix installed to /usr/share/phoenix but when i eneter it in i get:

WARNING: Please enter a valid installation path.


BAH HUMBUG!!

how else can i get flash in phoenix without reinstaling it to /usr/lib/phoenix ?

check if there's a /usr/lib/pheonix (usually there should be). at least the plugins should be installed there.

yeh that dir is there.. but still the installer doesnt like it :(

ifaik, phoenix never ist (nor is any other app) installed to /usr/lib/. btw. what error message do you recieve, when trying to install flashplayer?

oh, erm well... yes. sorry, i just... uh :oops:

anyway. you should consider to reemerge it. in wonder how you installed the binary into a different dir, than the default. did you edit the ebuild?

i've done nothing special but emerge phoenix-bin and then... well emerged the flashplayer. i'm not sure why you would like to do this by hand? why not emerge the flashplayer?

I build phoenix using CVS and gave it a different install dir :S

that one:

net-www/netscape-flash

(it's the latest Flash player from the people that make Flash..if you are worried about the GPL then go for one of the others, although I don't know how well they play Flash 5 or 6) , then if it doesn't install into the correct dir, just cp or symlink the flashplayer.xpt and libflashplayer.so into your phoenix/plugins dir
