|

hey all
For the past few days, ive gone over countless ati and 2.6 howtos, i havent gotten a single one to work correctly, The guide that ive found was the best, is this guide
http://odin.prohosting.com/wedge01/gentoo-radeon-faq.html#2_kernelopts
and this guide
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ATI_Drivers
I followed all the steps in the first guide, including all of the troubleshooting options, then continued on to this post :
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=293159&highlight=matching+device+section+instance+busid+pci
i am currently following the directions in the last post, to recompile everything.
ill post the output of " cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep WW " here
Code: |
bash-2.05b# cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep WW
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such file or directory)
(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:3:0:1) found
(WW) fglrx(0): could not detect XFree86 version (query_status=-3)
(WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************
(WW) fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed! *
(WW) fglrx(0): * (maybe driver kernel module missing or bad) *
(WW) fglrx(0): * 2D acceleraton available (MMIO) *
(WW) fglrx(0): * no 3D acceleration available *
(WW) fglrx(0): ********************************************* *
|
if anyone has any ideas at all on how to fix this, please do let me know!
thanks again
Alex

Do you have the same problem with the fglrx module not being compiled? The warning about "No matching device..." is normal and can be ignored.
If you could post your whole log that would help. _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra
