Okay, do I have to do anything to get it to work like it should? I really want this to start drawing things like qt. Plus, will I need gtk anymore?

You will also need to have the gtk libraries installed for the gtk apps to run. The gtk-qt-engine is just supposed to change the gtk theme to the kde one.

You may have problems with apps (just like I am), where one app may change its widgets to look like kde and another still has the ugly gtk style.
