hi all! I am newbie in *nix world and I've some questions.
I've just installed gentoo linux with 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 kernel and try to setup my SmartLink USB modem.
I emerge slmodem by "USE=-alsa usb" emerge slmodem (I don't need alsa at this point)
after rebooting I try to follow readme file from /doc/slmodem<...>
1. modprobe slusb
2. slmodemd /dev/slusb0
after 2. I get error message, that I've no /dev/slusb0 file. What is the problem? USB works fine (I'm able to read my USB flash)
Maybe I've disabled some important options in kernel menuconfig? |

I solve the problem! I switch off an OHCI support in kernel menuconfig, and because modem is USB 1.1 device it refuse to work. After recompiling kernel with new options everything goes ok. |
