|
|
I'm running Xorg 6.8 with the new ati drivers. I've gotten dual head to work, but I have to setup two server layouts in my xorg.conf and choose between them when I start x. Is there any way to detect if a monitor is connected before x is started and choose the correct server layout based on this? I've looked around, and haven't found a way to do it yet.

Ok, this worked and I could use the same server layout. Unfortunately, my monitors now both the same desktop. Does your dual head setup mirror your desktop on both screens, or are they two seperate desktops?

sorry I reported success too quickly.
just now I tested this setup with monitor attached. it was a TV before.
strange thing is that with TV everyting works fine and I have two seperate desktops.
but with CRT monitor I have only one desktop, seems to be the same problem as yours.
if I will find out how to overcome this, will surely let you know.
wbr,
