So, on this Gentoo Linux, do I have the process corectly listed below?
1) boot from image
2) unload and compile kernal and required mods
3) unload and compile initial commands ls, cd, tar, bzip, make, etc.
?? where would one go from here?

It will give you a step-by-step to get a basic gentoo system up and running.

I don't even know too much linux stuff yet (more than some I guess, but less than you) and that install guide was more than enough. And it's worth it. _________________ Gentoo and Doom III. 'Nuff Said.

If you don't want to print out the install guide from the website. Move over to another screen (Alt-F2) and press enter. Then type, without quotes, "less /install.txt". You can follow along while installing. That is what I did. To go back to the install screen press Alt-F1.
