|
|
Greetings everyone. I have noticed after adding framebuffer support in my kernel, I have a delay when switching between consoles. There is a 1-2 second delay, when I see just a black screen, and then the desired console is visible. I do remember running vga=791 before and never had the delay on slackware. I have since switched video cards (currently ATI Radeon 9700) and monitors (Sony 17" LCD). I realize this may be something being invoked by my hardware directly and there may not be a simple fix. It is much nicer when working in multiple consoles to switch between them very rapidly. If more info on my setup is required, I can post it. Please give me some hints.
P.S. I'd like to thank the gentoo community for creating such a great distro and a great website for support. |

BlackEdder:
Downloaded kernel 2.6.10, updated config, compiled, installed. Problem fixed in 5 minutes. Thanks so much!
Geez why didn't I use the search term "slow". I must have searched "console delay" with 50 different contexts. I always have a tendency to over complicate things. Thanks again |
