Hello,
I'm running kernel 2.6.10-r6 on an hp xw800, and using firewire drives for backup. I can sucesfully use the drives: they are autdetected when connected. However, the drives are stored off-site, so they continually go through connect/disconnect sequences. Every time the drive is re-connected, its associated SCSI ID increases. e.g., the first time they are connected, they show up as scsi ID4, the next time they are connected, they show up as SCSI ID5, etc... My question, is there a command/method I should be using to avoid the continual increase in SCSI ID. Or is this normal (or no big deal) and I should just live with it.
btw: using the "scsi remove-single-device" command under 2.6 has lead to nothing but trouble for me so far.
Thank you |
