I can't really comment on those games but if you're planning on gaming in linux I would go nvidia without question.

If you don't care about having open/portable drivers or anything like that, you should probably just go for a cheapo nvidia FX5200.

Go with a GeForce2 MX. Plenty of Power for everything prior to Doom3/Farcry (Even UT2004 is doable), and only $30 or 40 last I checked.

before a mx or low end fx id say go with a older ti series card. i think the ti4600 is in the 50ish range these days and will run circles around the mx or fx5200. you just wont have directx 9 sopport. but the card will directx8 fast as heck and all of todays games are backwards compatable that i know of. loss a little eye candy for playable frame rates

5700le is cheap and cheerful. I run Doom 3 at an acceptable level of detail and it looks and runs pretty sweet.

absolutely do not get an fx5200, if you want something that cheap go for a high end gf4, otherwise i would say a 5700le

nvidia fx5200 works perfectly on both p4 and amd64, ignore the ignorant comments above. ut2004, americas army, enemy-territory, and doom are all completely playable and it only cost 50 bucks.

Did anyone say it wouldn't work on a P4 or AMD64?
Seriously, it's not that fast a card - I'd say stick with a GF4 Ti, or FX5700 if you want some more performance and are willing to pay a bit more.
