|
|
I have been tweeking my "xorg.conf" for better preformance.
I was able to get about 660 fps in glxgears before i changed my xorg.conf file now im able to get 860 fps.
I also just added more RAM to my Laptop im now at 1 gig of RAM.
I checked my BIOS to make sure it was setting aside 128mb of memory for my video card. and it was set too 128mb
So everthing is good right well maybe not. I then installed Doom3 to test the graphics out. and I noticed that Doom3
only dectected 64mb for memory. When i gave it the command to change it to 128mb everthing slowed way down.
So my question is How Can I see what amount of RAM that xorg is using for graphics? I know there is a way to set the vedio RAM in xorg.conf but im not sure what the right syntax's. Any help wouldbe great.
Im using the x11-xorg driver for 3D. not the ATI pro drivers. |

It is a good thing you are not using the ATI drivers on your 9000IGP. 3D support doesn't work; in fact it locks up the machine if you try to run a 3D app (at least mine did). I am using an Acer TravelMate 2700 with the wide screen, which is a pretty nice machine but uses the same 9000IGP as yours. What tweaks did you make to your xorg.conf? If I find anything about your particular problem, I'll post it. |
