Guys! im new to playing with web thingys.. but i have a 1 Public Ip an i want to run a small website..
here is what i have.
1-Machine
1-Public IP
1-Top Level Domain (.com)
here is what i have done:
-2.6 Hardened Kernel
-MySQL
-PostgreSQL
-Apache 2.0
-Mod Perl
-Mod PHP
and this is where i somewhat stoped:
Magical World of DNS
I emerge DJBDNS, dnscache is working (i think)
i need a bit of advise with regards to seting up tinyDNS.
1) Is it possible to run a small website with only one dns?
i setup dnscache to forward ip using my ISP's pdns and sdns
i set up tinydns IP to BIND using my [Public IP]
how do i setup my domain on it?
and is it possible to host one small website with one dns?
Tnx! |

You don´t need your own DNS server at all - the company where you registered the domains should maintain DNS records for you... You just need to point them to your IP address.
Otherwise, no, you must have at least two authoritative nameservers for a domain. |

if my domain provider would just point to my IP address, does that means that they would take care of my emails to? i mean they would do the pointing and stuff? |
