Hi!

Well, If I bootup Gentoo and do not have my ethernet cable plugged in I automatically use my wlan interface, and that is ok. But sometimes I want a faster connection and I plug in my ethernet cable and do an:

ifconfig eth0 up -> This I write!!
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Cannot allocate memory -This is the message I get...

Why can't I get my ethernet interface up manually? It doesn't help if I disconnect and bring the wlan interface down. (i can however bring the wlan up again) ..

Second: If I boot up the computer with the cable plugged in, and then bring the eth0 down manually I can bring up my wlan and then bring down the wlan and bring up the eth0 without any problems at all...

My Eth0 = Broadcom 4401 (Dell Inspiron 8500)
My Wlan0= BuiltIn TruMobile 1300 (Dell Inspiron 8500)

anyone else having these problems ?
approciate any help I can get...

I recall a similar problem with my dell latitude C610.
I had to change some memory address' for my PCMCIA to get my wifi card working. I think your error is similar to what i was recieving.
Search around the forums for Dell memory address' and wifi. HOpefully that helps!
thanx
