My problem is that emerge -u world wants to emerge mplayer, while i added
media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre6 and media-video/mplayer to /etc/portage/profile/package.provided. Portage still wants to emerge mplayer and i dont want it because i use 32 bit one because of codecs. emerge --inject also doesn't work anymore. So my question is how to prevent mplayer from emerging (some working solution). I cannot rename it cause if i rename gmplayer , it doesn't start gui.

Sounds like mplayer is in your world file. Mask the newer versions of mplayer in that case using /etc/portage/package.mask |
