If your kernel configuration is correct, then this is usually a sign that the drive is going to die soon....
Backup ASAP. |

I have the same problem with my laptop, for some reason the last time I tried to load gentoo my system 4 months ago HDD gave me similar errors. This happened the last time I had time to load gentoo on it, was fine when it came back from the shop with windows, I just resized the partition and did a quick FC3 install for lack of time, and was fine for all those months. Last night I get the time to load up my fav distro gentoo and it craps out again, with the exact same condition, I wondering if its some software issue, and if so why just with Gentoo? |

Hi there, got the same DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest errors.
I've exchanged my drive with a truely working one, and same errors now.
The old drive was checked from my side, in another computer and no problems there.
I've exchanged my ide-cable and now the errors occure less. But still sometimes.
I'm useing 2.6.12 gentoo r6. Problems started with this kernel.
At the Moment I don't have the time to try an older one. .... because I need patching of the kernel to, to run on my system.
No time, sorry, but curios too.
