|
hello everybody !
I am trying to download gentoo from the Oregon State UniversityOpen Source Lab Mirrors
http://gentoo.osuosl.org/releases/x86/2004.3/
four items are included as below:
Parent Directory -
livecd/ 07-Dec-2004 07:27 -
packagecd/ 07-Dec-2004 07:27 -
snapshot/ 13-Nov-2004 05:38 -
stages/ 13-Nov-2004 05:39 -
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can see they contained either iso files or tarballs. I have both linux (RedHat) and Win98 on my computer and an empty partition prepared for Gentoo. I wonder which item is the exact one for me to install Gentoo from harddisk, since I don't have the CD burning machine.
the packegcd contained:
packages-x86-2004.3-r1.iso 24-Nov-2004 12:46 694M
packages-x86-2004.3-r1.iso.asc 24-Nov-2004 12:46 189
packages-x86-2004.3-r1.iso.md5 24-Nov-2004 12:46 61
I don't know what is meant for the iso.asc and iso.md5 files.
Thanks in advance !

If your redhat install is working and can access the Net, boot into redhat and install Gentoo from inside redhat.
I assume you already have free space on your hard disk that is not being used by any partition. You can install Gentoo into this free space.
Boot into Redhat, and then start the install from part 4 of the installation handbook (Chinese version). |
