I'm a newbie so go easy =)
I have WAV working (my roommate got it working for me so I didn't learn anything) but MIDI doesn't work. If I run the test in the Sound System config in KDE it won't play anything when I click on "Test MIDI", even though the MIDI device shows up under the hardware tab as "Audigy MPU-401 (UART) - Rawmidi 0 etcetc". I can also select 4 other ones that are all "Emu10k1 WaveTable Emu10k1 Port 0 - ALSA device" but those ones don't play MIDI either. Please help! =) Tell me what code to post if it's needed.
I really wish I knew how in the hell to even approach problems. Is there a newbie guide anywhere out there I can read or something? Because typing "man" sure doesn't get me very far when I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking up, and "man sound" or "man midi" or "man newbie" doesn't work =D lol
thanx a bunch! |

I have an audigy gamer, but I'll give it a shot.
Have you emerged awesfx and loaded your sound fonts with sfxload? You'll find the command line pmidi useful in resolving problems as you can easily specify which ports to try.
Example:
Quote: |
sfxload /path/to/ct4mgm.sf2
pmidi -p 65:0 a_midi_file.mid
|
If the above doesn't work, you should make sure your alsa.conf is correct and that you are lsmod shows snd_emu10k1_synth in the list. _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |
