|
|
Hi,
I started using VoIP as my generel telephone.
But I have one problem:
My voice is VERY low. I have 100% CAPTURE(gain), 100% mic but still.
Using a VU-meter I can see the record level is very low.
In windows the volume is perfectly adjustable.
How do I turn up the record volume?
By the way I am using kernel 2.6.3 and ALSA!

Are just using alsa or are you running artsd on it? if you are using kde, you can be quite sure that you are using arts, the kde sound server, on top of alsa. in that case you have to look in both alsamixer (or amixer) AND kmix (or whatever the kde mixer is called... i don't use kde).
I guess you have your microphone plugged in the rec input (and not in the line in). most soundcards have an option named "Mic gain +20 dB" or something similar. try and find out whether your alsa driver supports this. |

I am not using artsd.
Yes I have seen the +20db in /etc/asound.state. Tried turning it on... didn't seem to work.
I am using es1371.
Where can i find out if +20db should work with this? _________________ I'm not a perfectionist, even though my parents were |

Same here with me. Mic is fine in WinXP but extremely low in Gentoo. I'm using Gnome and ALSA. Haven't tried the +20db boost yet.
EDIT: +20dB solved it |
