xchat ask to downgrade a couple of package of Gnome.
emerge -p xchat
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild UD] gnome-base/control-center-1.4.0.5-r1 [2.0.3-r1]
[ebuild UD] gnome-base/gnome-panel-1.4.2-r1 [2.0.11-r0]
[ebuild N ] net-irc/xchat-1.8.10-r1
Is it normal? Can i safely (i.e. withouth breaking anything) emerge it? |

the Gnome 2 version of X-Chat is 1.9.x. The 1.9.x series is masked in package.mask and possibly through ACCEPT_KEYWORDS too. However, if you want the 1.8.x series you can compile it without GNOME support... just export USE='-gnome' and then emerge xchat...(-p first of course )
Hope that helps
ps. I'm running the 1.9.x series and have had little to no problems with it. |

You don't have to use ACCEPT_KEYWORDS if you point emerge to the .ebuild file. _________________ Lego my ego, and I'll lego your knowledge
