I'm trying to install K3B and it depends on this package. I do a emerge cdparanoia and it attempts to emerge cdparanoia-3.9.8-r1. The build compiles sucessfully but during the Test install phase, I get this error:
>>> Install cdparanoia-3.9.8-r1 into /var/tmp/portage/cdparanoia-3.9.8-r1/image/ category media-sound
install -d -m 0755 /var/tmp/portage/cdparanoia-3.9.8-r1/image//usr/bin

I'm unable to find any references to this in any of the forums. Can you please help me out here?

Hello
Just had the same error myself.
Try doing the following;
cd /var/tmp/portage/cdparanoia-3.9.8-r1/work/cdparanoia-3.9.8-r1/ (where the source is extracted)
make install (this was what failed during emerge - however this worked without problems on my box)
emerge --inject media-sound/cdparanoia-3.9.8-r1 (tells portage that cdparanoia is installed)
continue with your other emerge thingie
Hope this solves your problem. _________________ --
