hi all!

i've installed gentoo on my new ibm r50e and at least network don't work.
it's probably because i cant install e100

if i emerge e100 it stops with ... [e100_main.o] Error 1 ...

does sb know the problem? should i post more of the message?

thx
lupus

You only need to emerge the e100 driver if you run the 2.4 or earlier kernels. The e100 driver found in Linux 2.6 is more recent than the version the e100 ebuild provides, IIRC. If you run Linux on the R50 I believe you would benefit quite a lot from running Linux 2.6 (i.e. update ACPI sytem and so on).

i found the driver in the kernel-config. it was actually activated.
now it is a moldule and in the module-autoload.

with lsmod i see, that e100 is loaded correctly, also the conf.d/net is correct (iface_eth0="dhcp").
but no network ...

riddles in the darkness ...

i first noticed that when i restart eth0, the computer complains about pcmcia. so i selected almost all in the pcmcia-section in the kernel (hope it harms not)
then i had to emerge dhcpcd ... in the manual is nothing about emerge dhcpcd ...

thx again and i hope i can help myself in the future :)
