Install gui with just ssh, then use on VNC to it ?

Hi,

Ill like to get help on installing a GUI to my gentoo setup only using SSH and later VNC to that GUI.
ist hard to do or simple?

Nope, it's not too hard. Boot from livecd, do passwd <yourpassword> then do /etc/init.d/sshd start and make sure of the ip address you have on the box. This will get you started with root access to the box remotely via command line. From there, emerge xorg, a window manager (kde,gnome) and any required packages. Then you can emerge vnc or use remote desktop from kde. If you are trying to do this from a windows box, use putty for command line stuff to the shell. RealVNC works well from windows boxes once you have a desktop to work with.

I've done this several times in the last week due to some really bizarre problems with one of my boxes. One of my buddies calls me a serial installer now.

Zuti: it was from that tut i came up with the idea =) but dident know which paket to emerge to get the kde etc
but now i know hehe
