I was transferring some files to my PC via SSH through gFTP, and as I was tranferring file, I noticed my memory usage slowly started to climb. I figured it was cached files and after the transfer was over I would be given the memory back. I was wrong, I closed the program and the memory wasn't freed up. Is this because the transfers were done through SSH or was it because of gFTP? And either way, can I keep it from using so much RAM or at least get my RAM back after transfer?

I'm starting to think this has something to do with the 64 bit architecture, I'm going to start a thread there.
I tried the same thing on a 32-bit system with no problems.
