Hi there

I do start GNOME by issueing "startx" (I never dared to add xdm to my default runlevel...) :)

However, all of a sudden it is not possible any more to end it via Gnome-Menu - "Log Out" - which worked fine until today and brought me back to the initial console, but now, just nothing happens. Sometimes, I can move the mouse cursor, but nothing more, but sometimes, even the Gnome Menu continues working (so I can select "Log out" over and over again)....

HELP!
What's this?

thanks
thomas

sounds like some little bug in gnome that sometimes happens and most of the time doesnt. i've ran into this problem before.

Ctrl + Alt + Backspace will kill X and return you to the console.

OK - but how do I save my session settings - i. e. the programs that should open (and the ones that should not) and similar things when I can't regularly end Gnome?

Funny - since a while, the problem has completely disappeared. I don't know whether updating some packages has something to do with it - at least, this bug does not bother me any more... :)
