I have an Audigy2 ZS Platinum. Got no sound.
I checked dmesg: and it said alsa didnt find any sound card
i did lspci to see that the sound card was detected correctly
i did ls mod to see whether the emu10k1 modules were loaded for my soundcard.
checked in the kernel config to find out that alsa support was compiled into the kernel and not as modules. However, PCI devices in alsa devices report that emu10k1 supportt was enabled as a Modules, not compiled into the kernel
I even checked/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 to see that i put snd-emu10k1 and snd-emu10k1-synth in there.
my kernel (gentoo-dev-sources) was initially compiled with genkernel and i've attempted to modify the kernel and then make && make modules_install but nothing has worked.
In KDE, i see that kmix brings up the appropriate switches for my soundcard but whats the use if alsa didn't detect my card in the first place.
I even emerged alsa-utils,
checked alsamixer to see the sound levels. Card was audigy2 zs but chip mentioned something about sigmatel ...
No f'in sound. what gives?

Did you happen to do this?
Code: | rc-update add alsasound default && /etc/init.d/alsasound start |
If not that may be the problem, and I would also emerge aumix and use that for controlling audio settings. _________________ Now the rainy season reminds me of Maria
