I am hearing a lot of noise/borking when playing some low quality sound files (mono 8k) through dmix.

To my understanding dmix resamples the input to 48k for default output, therefore it is upmixing the 8k file to 48k.

Changing the rate of dmix to 8000 resolves the problem, yet that downmixes everything to 8k, which is not desirable.

Everything worked fine in alsa-lib 1.0.7. Is there some resampling code change in the new version ? (Everything else, driver, oss etc are 1.0.8 and work fine, I singled out this is a alsa-lib problem.)

Thanks!

Horace
