I'm trying to get the hp psc 2108 all-in-one's print function working, using the instructions from the gentoo printing guide.
I think all the steps from the gentoo printing guide, have succeeded. Only the PPD file generation via foomatic-configure failed, so I used the alternative method: copy over a PPD file from the web. I only couldn't find a exact matching PDD file, but one very close to the right version number (HP-PSC_2110-hpijs.ppd). But I think there is almost no difference between those two models.
Then I tied to add and configure the printer using http://localhost:631/. I had to wait two minutes, at each page load, when using http://localhost:631/, and adding the printer failed.
Then I tried to use the kde printer configuration from the kde control center. Then the control center freezes, a long time, and after that it is so slow and unstable that it is unusable. I think this has someting to do with the access times to http://localhost:631/
I don't know what to do now, I hope someone can give me a hand.
Thanks in advance. |
