Hello
I'm trying to upgrade my gentoo system.
Then I type
emerge -u gcc glibc binutils
it downloads kernel-headers-2.4.**.
But I'm using kernel 2.6
How to upgrade my system correctly? It is x86 laptop & gentoo 2004.3 |

Vertical,
Your system can still use kernel-headers-2.4 even if you use a 2.6 kernel.
The kerenl headers package is uses to ensure your have a consistant set of kernel headres to build against, instead of using the headers from the live kernel.
You can update to the 2.6 kernel headers if you want. You must do the following without a system restart.
unmerge the 2.4 headers
emerge the 2.6 headers
emerge glibc
glibc builds against the kernel headers and is the key package for keeping things consistant. _________________ Regards,
