I have a problem trying to log off other instances of root. When I type who, heres what I get:
Code:

root     pts/6        Feb 23 15:33 (:0.0)
root     pts/7        Feb 23 15:33 (:0.0)
root     pts/8        Feb 23 15:33 (:0.0)
root     pts/3        Feb 23 20:44 (cpe-<IP>.san.rr.com)

Those other 3 root sessions were created when I was trying to configure my display, but I can't log them off. I'm currently logged into pts/3.
How would I close those sessions?

Thanks,
Igor

Are you sure those aren't terminal windows?

Yeah, I'm sure. I only have one terminal window open right now. The machine I'm accessing does not have a monitor and I'm using it from an SSH terminal via Windows. I was typing these commands:
Code:

DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0
export DISPLAY

I was also messing around with sux.
If this is impossible I can always restart, but that's a last resort.

BTW, if those are other terminals, is it possible to switch to them?

Thanks,
Igor

Is there any difference when you use "w" instead of "who"?

In my experience *something* messed up with the different logfiles, creating different outputs for those 2...
Removing the logfiles took care of the non-existend logins.

Yeah, here's what the output is when I type w:

USER     TTY        LOGIN@   IDLE   JCPU   PCPU WHAT
root     pts/6     Wed15    2days  0.00s  0.00s bash
root     pts/7     Wed15    2days  0.00s  0.00s bash
root     pts/8     Wed15    2days  0.00s  0.00s bash
root     pts/4     Fri14    0.00s  0.16s  0.02s w
