Hey i set up qmail and have several alias pointing to one local user name. Eveytime i register somewhere i just make an alias so I can see where I'm getting spam from.

Now that I'm getting spam from on of the aliases i removed it but i get undeliverable messages now.

What is the proper way to handle this alias that is getting spam?

Thanks

If you remove the alias the mail will bounce to sender. However, you could simply remove the address in the alias and enter the following and all mails for that address will be sent to /dev/null.

Code:
| cat > /dev/null

There is also the realrcptto patch (which I'm failrly sure is not part of gentoo's qmail). Which will accept or refuse mail based on the recipient existing on the system.

Hi,

I have the same problem. Would be very usefull for me to block email for non-existing users.

There are various patches available on the internet for this:

http://http.netdevice.com:9080/qmail/rcptck/

None of them is part of the latest qmail ebuild (version qmail-1.03-r16)

Is there a place to file a request for this?

Regards,

Leon

Even so, enhancement requests go that way as well.

Oke, I will file a request. But the email system of gentoo's bugzilla seems to be down. I cannot create a new account. Tried several emailaddresses... :-(

Leon
