when bootnig I get the following message a number of times:
Code: |
* Scanning font directories ...
find: warning: you have specified the -maxdepth option after a non-option argume
nt -type, but options are not positional (-maxdepth affects tests specified befo
re it as well as those specified after it). Please specify options before other

* Starting X Font Server ... [ ok ]

I've searched through the forum and googled around a bit, but no result. Anyone else suffering from this?

Ever Since X11R6 version 4.3 or so XFS hasn't been necessary, so I don't think that this is key. _________________ Gentoo: Stage3 w/ NPTL & udev, gcc 3.4.4 full rebuild

It occured in the latest xorg update. Its not serious, its just a warning that occurs because the parameters are in a potentially bad order.
If you wanna fix it, open up /etc/init.d/xfs and find the line that says Code: | fontlist="$(find $1/ -type f -maxdepth 1 | \
|
Change this to:
Code: | fontlist="$(find $1/ -maxdepth 1 -type f | \ |
Ive submitted a bug about it anyway, 83376 |

Does this mean we should not be loading xfs? |

Ease of use really....
Its not so much the fontserver thats useful, as the initscript is.
The script takes care of updating the font dirs for you. It also updates the fontconfig cache |

If you use xfs, you don't have to screw around with fontsettings in xorg.conf, you just start xfs, that's it. |

It was decided that xfs was overkill. So now, if you want to try xfs, instead of changing some configs and adding xfs to your runlevel, you get to compile xorg again with the font-server use flag. |
