Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to spin down my hard drives after a given period. I have ACPI in my kernel. Suse had a nice little app called kpowersave. I'm looking for something similar.
I've looked through the forums and have only found HOWTO's for software suspend. Can somebody point me in the right direction for spinning down my hard drives? |

You don't need ACPI to spin down hard disks. hdparm can do this for you. Read the manpage, specifically the -S flag. (and -y and -Y) |

Excellent. Talk about barking up the wrong tree. In the man page now.
Thanks! |

if you use cpudyn u can set the spindown with that also........ if you have DMA enabled u shouldnt need to set anything with hdparm so why not use cpudyn instead, then u have 1 program that does 2 things instead of 2 programs that do 1 _________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. |
