Hi all,
1st post... familiar with forums and googling but to no avail.
I have installed a gentoo-dev-sources i beleive 2004-4 .
What i need is a framebuffer solution to an application. I will not be using X.
I have tried .. vesafb, vesafb-tng and the built in i810fb kernel options in various combinations.
I have followed instructions (rtfm'ed) thourougly.
The best ( ) result so far is i810fb ..
1) system is: hp e-pc with hp L1520
2) When booting I do get Tux
3) fbset -i gives me the deafult 640x480 and allows me to change the depth for those resolutions
4) fbset -v 800x600-60
fails with an iocl FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO: invalid argument
which means (after some research) that 800*600-60 is not supported
ie: max values not comming in via kernel or grub boot parm
I use a sample framebuffer program which works.
any help will be appreciated..
thanks
george
