Hi!
I'm booting Alpha Server 1000A from LiveCD
(install-alpha-minimal-2004.3-r1.iso) using
serial terminal and SRM console.
My boot params are:
initrd=/boot/gentoo.igz root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc looptype=zisofs loop=/zisofs cdroot
and the server boots ok, but I cannot login (Login incorrect). I tried the single
and init (/bin/sh) boot params ... nothing.
It says in the documentation I should just press Enter
when root password is required but that doesn't work.
Thanks,

What are your SRM settings for boot device, etc?
If you're not getting into single user mode, then you're somehow not passing the arguments to the kernel.
So at the login prompt it says something like:
login:
you enter root, in lower case, no spaces, hit enter, it asks for password, you hit no keys but enter, and it won't let you in? Do you get any other error messages on the screen? |
