just stops during the boot process and the prompt stops flashing also.
i can hold down on the control or alt key and it will continue just fine.
this behavior continues after logging in when i try to run a command.
any idea what's going on here?, btw i'm using the new kernel sources for gentoo (2.4.20-gentoo-r1) and when i use vanilla 2.4.20 or another version this problem goes away.
any ideas?
thank for your help |

I'd just suggest using vanilla.
I've had some funky miscellanous problems when using Gentoo-sources... but only on particluar hardware (an Athlon 1.3/SiS 735 mobo, for one).
I could imagine that perhaps the preemptive patches (did you use them?) may not like something on your computer.
Then again, it could just be anything else in your kernel config _________________ --brain |
