Well i cant decide what graphic card i want to get i either want this one

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-122-217&depa=1 (geforce 6600)

or this one

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-122-216&depa=1 (geforce 6200)

Well i want a card that will run doom 3 in 1024x768@24 bit color and high quility. Would the Nvidia geforce 6200 run 1024x768@24 bit color at high quility and get around 50 fps? Or do you think i should get the 6600? I dont have much money and im only spending 150$. Which card should i get? 6600 or 6200?

My main question is: Would the Nvidia geforce 6200 run 1024x768@24 bit color at high quility and get around 50 fps?

seems like 6600 only exsists in PCI-E at their site?

I've heard the 6200 compared to the 5700, no direct experience though. I doubt it could do 50fps in those conditions reliably, best get the 6600.

As a point of reference, with a Geforce 6800GT I can get around 50 - 60 FPS at 1280x960x24 on high quality. I'd say go for the 6600 if you want to come anywhere near 50fps at 1024x768x24. Also, keep in mind while you shop that high quality is meant for cards with 256mb or more memory, medium for 128mb, and low for 64mb.

The 6200 hundred is not yet supported in linux. This will probably come with the next upgrade obviously, which will hopefully be soon. I have the 6200 TC in a laptop and performance in windows is pretty good.

As far as what to get, basically all chips support the same technology (i.e. pixel shader 3, open gl 2.0, ....), but you are paying for pipelines in my opinion.

6200 == 4 pipelines
6600 == 8 pipelines
6800 == 16 pipelines

The rest of the variation is in the memory clock speed. The 6200 Turbo Cache is really cheap since it has only 32MB mem onboard, but shares system mem usually up to 128MB.

ive decided to get the geforce 6600 since it has ultra shadow 11 (which is good for doom 4) and the 6200 doesnt. Its 150$ but itll be worth it.
