Hi,
ich will Gentoo von Stage 1 installieren, weiß aber nicht, welche Images ich brauche.
Ich habe derweil ein Win2k System auf der Festplatte.
Kann mir bitte wer sagen, welches Image ich brauche?

Ich habe mir jetzt das Image gentoo-basic-x86-1.4_rc2.iso gezogen, welches 38,9MB hat. Ist jenes Image das richtige, wenn ich Gentoo installieren will (Also kein Linux System habe, sondern per CD booten will und Stage1 installieren will!)?

Ja ist es!
Dieses Image ist für alle Intel PCs und kompatible geeignet. Die eigentliche Anpassung an den jeweiligen Prozesssor nimmt man dann vor dem Kompilieren in der /etc/make.conf vor.

Auf jeden Fall solltest du wissen, das sich der zeitliche Mehraufwand eigentlich kaum lohnt mit einer stage1 anzufangen, es sei denn, du moechtest komplett andere Compileroptionen verwenden (-o3 -pipe). Ich habe den Eindruck, als wenn die Systeme, die ich mit Stage3 aufgesetzt habe einfach insgesamt unkomplizierter laufen. Mag aber auch daran liegen, das die anderen zu den ersten Gentoo basierten Installationen gehoeren, die ich gemacht habe.
