I have been using a ps/2 mouse for a while. Well the mouse ball has been worn down pretty good after all these years and I finally got a optical mouse. It is usb. I could use the stupid ps/2 adapter, but I'd much rather learn how to get it to work via usb. So I tried looking for instructions. I found a small bit here but not very helpful for switching. I thought maybe since it is usb I should have hotplug, so I emerged that. Still no go. I have usb HID in my kernel so I think that is taken care of. What am I missing to get this to work? Is having my old ps/2 mouse plugged in conflicting? |

When I changed from PS2 to USB mouse a couple of weeks ago I unplugged my ps2 mouse, stuck my usb one in and booted up. Obviously the mouse didn't work, so I did
Which produced output upon moving my mouse, so I just changed the mouse device line in xorg.conf to /dev/usbmouse , restarted X and all was well. |
