|
|
Hi,
I'm setting up a headless (no monitor) server. X will never be running on this box, how ever a couple packages we need only have GUI installs (gtk i believe).
I don't want to install X if I dont have to. I have done these installs before using a remote Xserver.
Does anyone know if X and its libraries needs to be installed to on the headless box in order to run an app which connects to a remote Xserver?
Hope I made this question clear enough.

Yes, you do need X: X works in a client-server fashion, where the apps are clients who connect to the consoles (who are servers).
I know, it's backward - get used to it
So the client will need the X client libraries. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /
