Just a quick one for you guys.
Is there any chance of having full support for scsi tapes and the appropriate commands to needed to get a system back on it feet from a bad crash ? As i would assume that alot of people here would benefit from it.
ie .
kernel support for --
scsi cards
scsi tapes
non-kernel stuff
MT-ST
Tar
cpio ( optional )
------
also while im on the subject, if i dont backup everything ie just /usr /home /root /etc /boot /bin /sbin /opt
how would i go about getting the other dir's back ?
would i just do a stage 2 or 3 install from tarball then restore over the top ?
---
oh and one more thing, how about a gentoo standard backup solution ?
catering for say 3 types of full(only necessary dirs ) backups ?
eg. network ( nfs,smb whatever) , CDROM, tape.
Does this seem doable ??
if not a full blown system then jsut a base framework people can build around. even something as simple as another stage tarball jsut for restoring crashed systems and some scripts to deal witrh different backups.
Cheers
