Submount and KDE

Hello everybody

I`ve been using submount for some time. It can automatically detect when a cd-dvd is inserted-ejected. The annoying part is that I have to manually go to the mounting point. I was thinking of the way Windows XP detects a cd-dvd and pops a Dialog box from where you can select an action.
A friend of mine has done this under Gnome using hal. Is this supported under KDE? Do I really need hal or can this be done with submount somehow?
