I can't get internet access after I chroot, I checked to make sure I followed the steps right. Once I get to emerge --sync after chrooting, I get temp failure in name resolution, cant reach anything. Works fine from live cd environment.?? What othe info do you need? Or what should I do?

You forgot to copy /etc/resolv.conf before chrooting, see Step 6a of the install guide, subheading "Copy DNS Info".

Just a thought, did you cp -L /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf, before you chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash, env-update, source /etc/profile? If it works on the Live cd it should also work in the new environment.

Yes I did that, double checked the command for errors when I couldnt get it to work, and now I triple checked it after reading your replies, and also manually checked both files to make sure they are the same, and they are. Then I go chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash then env-update works ok after that, then source /etc/profile, then emerge --sync and : 'Notice: (-3, Temporary failure in name resolution) . What on earth could I be doing wrong?

P.S.- /etc/resolve.conf has addresses for two nameservers and nothing else, is this as it should be?

also, I used mirrorselect to set the mirror and the rsync mirror, I have now tried different mirrors, but to the same effect.

There's your problem. Notice the spelling of resolv in the original file.
