Since I've updated my system (MSI motherboard with on board nvidia, AMD 2500+) X won't run. The screen stays blank with only a mouse pointer which moves just fine. I got the xorg stuff working (I think), but the nVidia driver fails when I run startx with the following messages:
(EE) NVIDIA(0): unknown reason for exception
(EE) NVIDIA(0): cannot continue
I have no clue how to pursue this problem, the errors are particularly uninformative.
I'm using a 2.4 kernel, both 2.4.26 and 2.4.28 exhibit the same problem. The nVidia driver module loads just fine at boot.
HELP!

this is an nvidia board? perhaps you need to load nvidia-agp kernel module first [nForce chipset agp support, enable it in the kernel]
