every time xscreensaver starts (even the managment utility) the xserver shuts down and kicks me back out to the gdm login.
annoyingley, i was typing this post up and it happened again whe i tried to diagnose if xscreensaver was asking for an invalid screen setting.
i found somthing errorable in the logs but oodley enough, after restart the same log showed a more generic error with none of the lovley things i had spotted previously. (cant remember the exact errors, but the led me to believe that xscreensaver may be looking for an invalid screen setting from nvidia or xorg)
Code: |
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/Speedo/, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/CID/, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/local/, removing from list!
*** If unresolved symbols were reported above, they might not
*** be the reason for the server aborting.
Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting |
ps - dont worry about the 'could not init font path...' they have appered i every log since i first booted, i just havent got round to reacking that problem down. |

"With the 2.4-kernels, the solution seemed to be to disable "preemptible kernel", with 2.6.* there´s no solution (at least i havn´t found one)."
*sigh* |
