|
|
I'm trying to install a stage1 on a Pentium M system. I've passed the bootstrap stage and now I'm doing emerge system. I'm getting hung up on ncurses - (5.4-r5) - it won't build.
The error message at the bottom is "Function src_compile, Line 77, Exitcode 2"
Furthyer up I see a few lines that could indicate the root error that look like:
/bin/sh: line 1: -I../c++: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [../obj_s/cursesf.o] Error 127
make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
make[1]: *** [../obj_s/cursesm.o] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/ncurses5.4-r5/work/ncurses-5.4/c++'
make: *** [all] Error 2
I've been trying to install other packages around this one but it's not working out - this is a dependency on many things. My CFLAGS are: "-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer" (I've also tried mcpu instead of march). My USE flags are "gnome gtk -kde -qt dvd cdr alsa"
Any help would be appreciated. This is a brand new IBM T42P laptop. |

Thank you for the pointer. I did do a search, but I guess I didn't pick good search terms. Is there a way to search just a particular forum instead of searching the whole site? That might have saved me from posting a duplicate - I wouldn't have lost it amidst so many results.
Incidentally, that post is a little wordy so let me summarize the solution for others:
1) Change your USE flag to say USE="build bootstrap"
2) emerge ncurses
3) Change your USE flags back
Thank you very much for the quick response and helpful link. |
